LIBERTY, Mo. —
Stewart A. Moore, 96, quietly passed away on April 6, 2013, in the loving care of Our Lady of Mercy Country Home in Liberty, Mo.
Stewart was born to Arthur C. Moore and Florence Hardy Moore in Aberdeen, S.D. and grew up in Greenfield, Ind. He served as a decorated pilot in World War II and retired as a Lt. Col. from the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He was a longtime resident of Anderson, Ind., and in 1981 he retired from the Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. formerly known as Container Corporation of America in Anderson. He was a member of the Liberty United Methodist Church (Liberty, Mo.) and Fellowship Lodge No. 681 of the Indiana Freemasons. He had a lifelong appreciation of music and delighted in playing the piano and organ.
Stewart was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Brown Moore, who passed away on May 8, 2004; his parents, his sister; and one grandson. Stewart is survived by his children, Judi Funtas (Gary), Indio, Calif., Dr. Roger Moore, Lakewood, Ohio, and Joyce Harner (Richard), Liberty, Mo. He also leaves behind six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
A Celebration of life is being scheduled at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home, Liberty, Mo.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Our Lady of Mercy Country Home, Liberty, Mo., or Liberty United Methodist Church.
Stewart’s smile, positive attitude, and friendly disposition will be remembered and missed by all.
