---- — ELWOOD — Retta Mae (Hobbs) Grimme Beeman, 87, lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away on July 16, 2013, at her residence surrounded by her loving family following an extended illness.
Retta was born on March 4, 1926, to John and Nola (Mock) Hobbs in Elwood. Retta married Meredith Beeman on Dec. 3, 1983, and he survives.
Retta was a member of the East Main Street Christian Church. She especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Retta is survived by her loving family, husband, Meredith Beeman of Elwood; daughter, Shirley Morphew of Noblesville; two stepdaughters, Cassie (Gary) Jones, and Joy (Bill) Fowler, all of Elwood; grandchildren, Kelly (Tim) Gillum, Marcy (Andrew) MacLachlan, Barry (Suzanne) Morphew, Kathy Grimme and Kip Grimme; stepgrandchildren, Todd (Susan) Jones, Ryan Jones, Amy (Andrew) Zimmer, Brent Beeman, Brook Beeman and Eric (Allie) Beeman; great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Richard (Dick) Grimme whom she married on Feb. 3, 1945; son, Steve Grimme; brothers, John, George, Richard, and Thomas Hobbs; sisters, Dolores Tubbs, Bertha Hall and Donna Ewing; and stepson, Randy Beeman.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, with the Rev. Roger Gardner officiating. Burial will take place in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
Vistiation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
