MUNCIE — Robert “Bobby” Douglas, 61, of Muncie, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 19, 2013, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.
He was born on March 21, 1952, in Anderson, and resided most of his life in Anderson.
Bobby graduated from Anderson High School in the Class of 1970.
He was a retired HVAC installer and journeyman sheet metal worker.
He deeply loved and cared for his grandchildren, he enjoyed time on the beach in Panama City, Fla., and spending time with his cousins. He enjoyed watching the Cubs, IU basketball, and the Colts. He also enjoyed Tuesday night cards with friends.
Bobby is survived by his loving fiance of 14 years, Teresa; daughter, April (Stephen) Baker; son, Robert (Michelle) W. Douglas Jr.; daughter, Abbie Hunt; son, Jeffrey K. (Charlene) Douglas, all of Anderson; and son, Brandon L. Douglas of Pendleton, and Teresa’s children, Chris Perry and Kierstin Haste; brother, Jeffrey F. (Pam) Douglas; sister, Connie (Jeffrey) Hartwell. Teresa’s family, Judy Hinds, John and Mary Hinds, Margaret (Jeff) Zimmerman, Sally (Larry) Southworth, Christy Hinds, and brother, Johnny (Dee) Hinds; special uncle, Lex Douglas; 14 grandchildren, Olivia, Harley, Kendra, Andrew, Tristan, Bobby “Buckeye”, Jeffrey, Juliana, McKenzie, Mason, Carter, Landon, Sadie and Tessa; first wife, Bonita Douglas; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; and two dogs, Wylee and Clare Belle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Pops” and Joan “Meatmaw” Douglas; his grandparents; and his son, Tucker Douglas.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, with the Rev. Al Dayton officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service.
Cremation will take place.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Anderson Police Department Canine Fund.
