Thomas F. Bluemle

FAIRFIELD GLADE, Tenn. — Thomas F. Bluemle passed away on April 3, 2013, at his home in Fairfield Glade, Tenn. Tom was 80 years of age and had valiantly battled lung cancer.

Tom was born in Anderson, Ind., and graduated from Anderson High School in 1950. His parents, Arch and Alfreda Bluemle, died in his senior year of high school. He earned a bachelor of science degree in business at Indiana University in 1954. While at IU, he met his future wife, Patricia. Together, they have celebrated 59 years of marriage.

Tom was employed at Delco Remy Div. of General Motors as a foreman, general foreman and plant manager. After leaving GM, he was president and general manager of Borg Warner’s Warner Gear Div. in Muncie, Ind. He later retired from PBM Industries in Michigan. He was an active civic leader in Muncie, serving on the boards of Ball Memorial Hospital and Merchants National Bank.

Golf was a favorite pastime, which drew Tom and Pat to Fairfield Glade. He enjoyed playing the five golf courses of the community and served as treasurer of the Friars golf league. During retirement, Tom enjoyed many travels abroad and was an avid reader. He was also an ardent fan of Indiana University basketball and the Golf Channel.

The Dog Park was a favorite place for Tom and his dog Barney. He supported the building of the dog park and enjoyed the sociability afforded for the dogs and their owners.

Tom will be remembered as a gentleman who showed consideration for others. His kind and gentle manner endeared him to his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Pat; sister, Marilyn Stewart of Milwaukee, Wis.; daughters, Laura Butts (husband, Bob Butts) and Kathleen London (husband, Tim Guilfoil), all of Franklin, Tenn.
