ANDERSON, Ind. —
Doris Jones, 91, of Anderson, passed away April 9, 2013 at Millers Merry Manor in Chesterfield.
She was born Dec. 19, 1921 in Waco, Texas, the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Blanchard) Gantz. She lived most of her life in Anderson and was a homemaker.
Doris served in the Women’s Army Corps in Fort Benning, Ga., and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her son, Charles P. (wife, Robin) Jones of Anderson; daughters, Carla (husband, Fred) Deiser of Anderson and Leanna R. Jones of Wasilla, Alaska; nine grandchildren, Dena Sherman, Frederick Deiser, Benjamin Deiser, Sasha Lynn Jones, Evan Paul Jones, Scott Barnes, Kevin Barnes, Christie Barnes and Greg Barnes; three great-grandchildren, Karly Sherman, Jack Deiser and Sam Sherman; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Jones; and seven brothers and sisters.
The family would like to thank the staff at Miller’s Merry Manor in Chesterfield for all the special care given to Doris.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Manning officiating. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 266.
Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
