Martha Jean Baxter, 88, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2013.
Jean was born Jan. 23, 1924, in Anderson, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Helen Carico; and husband, Norman Baxter.
She graduated from Anderson High School, class of 1942. She attended Butler University and moved to Houston, Texas, in 1957.
Jean was a Girl Scout leader for many years and a longtime member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, serving in many capacities.
Jean enjoyed traveling, and one of her favorite pastimes was playing bridge. Jean participated in the Pearl Harbor Survivor Association with her husband, Norman, who was a Pearl Harbor survivor.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Marti Hatcher (husband, Ron) and Mary Lemburg (husband, Roger); son, Bill Becker; and grandchildren, Michele Byrnes, Laura Lemburg and Leslie Caldwell (husband, James), all of Houston; sisters, Mary Miner of Kokomo, Ind., and Katy Carico of Yorktown, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Jean was held Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas.
