CHESTERFIELD — Helen I. (Benzenbower) VanVoorhis, 85, of Chesterfield, died Nov. 20, 2013, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Chesterfield after an extended illness.
She was born Nov. 28, 1927, in Anderson, to Frank and Maxine (McClure) Benzenbower and was a 1946 graduate of Anderson High School.
She was the records manager at Montgomery Ward Department Store for several years.
She is survived by her brother, William (Doris) Benzenbower of Anderson; eight nieces and nephews, Tim Benzenbower, Nannette Richardson, Matthew Benzenbower, Linda Wood Oliver, Jeff Wood, Dorothea Brokaw, Brett Benzenbower and Dianna Benzenbower; and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emmett VanVoorhis; brother, Wayne Benzenbower; and two sisters, Annabelle Benzenbower and Sarah Wood.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery with Ned Clark of Chesterfield Christian Church officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
The family wants to thank Miller’s Merry Manor in Chesterfield and Lisa with St. Vincent’s Hospice for all of their loving care.
