ELWOOD — Steve Clark, 74, of Elwood, passed away on June 13, 2013, at Community Hospital Anderson, following an extended illness.
Steve was born Feb. 7, 1939, in Elwood, to Edgar and Helen (Riley). On May 18, 1979, he married Marcia Lynn (Foust). She survives.
Steve served his country in the U.S. Navy. While living in the Summitville area, for many years he was very active in the community. He served in the fire department, where he was instrumental in starting the ambulance service. Steve became the first EMT of Summitville and encouraged women to volunteer and become EMTs also.
He became the Town Marshal of Summitville and later served as reserve for the county Sheriff’s Department. He served on the Town Board of Summitville from December 1991 to 1996 and was Precinct Committeeman of Van Buren Township for many years.
He coached Little League for many years and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Steve’s family: wife, Marcia; daughter, Kerry Lynn (Brandon Wilson) Clark; three stepdaughters, Kristen (Kevin) Vangeloff, Kelly (Jarrod) Morrison and Kimberlee (Greg) Clark; sister, Leslie (Phillip) Wilhelm; 10 grandchildren, Hollyn and Lyric Wilson, Curtis Elliott, Lindsey, Dere and Zach Eastburn, Lora Morrison, Kayla Jones, Jake Lawson and Tyler Vermillion; and one great-granddaughter, Brylee Noel.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Butch Clark.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2013, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson St., Elwood. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
