ANDERSON — Max C. Petersen, 79, of Anderson, died at Community Hospital on April 23, 2014, after an extended illness.
He was born Feb.12, 1935, in Bentonville, Ind., to Bernard and Ruby (Kemmer) Petersen. and graduated from Modoc High School.
He worked production at Delco Remy for 31.4 years before retiring in 1987.
For years, he raced at Sun Valley now Anderson Speedway. He drove a box truck over most of the Eastern United States for 3 1/2 years.
Survivors include his daughter, Deenia Robertson of Anderson; three brothers, Howard Petersen of Monroe, Tenn., Donald (Virginia) Petersen of Simpsonville, S.C., and Paul (Della) Petersen of Wickenburg, Ariz.; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorraine (Clore) Petersen; and a son, Max Brian Petersen.
A Celebration of Life Service will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at Millcreek Civic Center in Chesterfield with sharing by family and friends.
As per his wishes, he was cremated.
