ANDERSON — James Melvin “JM” Mann, 84, of Anderson, passed away on April 28, 2014, at The Villages of Hospice in The Villages, Fla.
He was born on Jan. 6, 1930, in St. Charles, Va., and resided most of his life in Anderson.
He retired as a maintenance man from Delco Remy after 30 years of service.
He was a member of UAW #662 and a strong advocate for working people. He loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed reading Western novels, traveling, pitching horseshoes with his friends, and gardening. He was an avid walker and kept in good physical condition.
James is survived by his children; Tom (Pamela) Mann of Enumclaw, Wash., and Myra (Rodney) Triplett of Anderson; grandchildren, Carla Pagett, Zachary Mann, Jamie Mann, Shelly Mann, Haley Millet, Cailyn Fisher, Ryan Fisher, Amanda Seabolt, Megan Headley, and Cameron Triplett; great-grandchildren, Jackson Pagett, Chase Pagett, Bailey Pagett, Gabriel Thompson, Lynae Thompson, Dashell Millet, and Jonas Millet.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye J. (King) Mann; son, Danny Ray Mann; three brothers; and five sisters.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.
Services will be Wednesday, May 7, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. R.B. Bingham officiating. Burial will take place in the Anderson Memorial Park. Military rites will be conducted by the VFW Post #266.
