Jan. 19, 1948 -- May 3, 2014

ALEXANDRIA — Barbara A. (Foster) Myers, 66, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness.

She was born on Jan. 19, 1948, in Anderson to Frank and Thelma (Lents) Foster and resided in the Alexandria area all of her lifetime.

Barb was a graduate of Alexandria-Monroe High School, Class of 1966. She retired in 1999 as a receptionist for Family Practice Physicians in Elwood after 10 years of employment. She was an active of member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria and the St. Mary’s School Guild.

She was a fan of Indiana University basketball and the Cincinnati Reds. She was a longtime and avid fan of Alexandria Tiger athletics. However, she was the No. 1 fan of her grandchildren’s athletics and rarely missed one of their games. Barb loved her family but especially loved being a memaw.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1996; her mother in 2001; a sister, Patty Collins; and a brother, Gary Foster.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 820 W. Madison St., Alexandria. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria.

Friends may call from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria. A Rosary service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. and will close the visitation.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Mary’s Church Building Fund through the funeral home.
