---- — ANDERSON — James R. Baker, 84, Anderson, passed away April 30, 2014, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital.
He was born Jan. 3, 1930, to Claudy and Carrie Baker in Anderson, Indiana. He graduated from Anderson High School. James served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1953 as a fireman aboard the USS Missouri. He was honorably discharged in September of 1953. He retired from Anderson Newspapers Inc. on Jan. 1, 1990, after 34 years of service as a printer.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, Marilyn; one son, Jami Baker of Tamarac, Fla.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Eunice Baker; and son, Scott W. Baker.
Services will be conducted at noon Thursday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Brother Ron Halbert officiating. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery with military honors provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 266 Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the funeral home.
