ALEXANDRIA — Anita L. (LaShure) Embry, 67, of Alexandria passed away on Friday, May 16, 2014, at Community Hospital in Anderson following an extended illness.
She was born Jan. 11, 1947, in Elwood to Samuel and Helen (Croy) LaShure. She married Rick Embry on Sept. 8, 1966. She has lived in the Alexandria area for the past 35 years. Anita was a homemaker and was dedicated to the care and nurturing of her family. She was a member of the Joyce Chapel United Methodist Church in Alexandria. Anita was an excellent cook and an accomplished baker, making specialized cakes for family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Rick Embry; three daughters, Angela (Brian) Ball, Alexandria, Jennifer (Corey) Fisher, Chesterfield, and Aimee Embry (Randy French), Alexandria; eight grandchildren, Cheyenne Ball, Austin Ball, Jace Ball, Kayla Walker, Dalton Walker, Sahara Walker, Cody Fisher and Colton Fisher; three great-grandchildren, Ethan Vest, Sophie Ball and Caiden Walker; special four-legged companion Rocky, the not-spoiled French Bulldog; two sisters, Diane Fernung, Elwood, and Pam (James) Vest, Elwood; two brothers, David (Mary) LaShure, Fairmount, and Terry LaShure, Elwood; several nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Jack LaShure, Melvin LaShure and Samuel LaShure
Service honoring Anita’s life will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, in the Noffze Funeral Home, 501 North Harrison St., Alexandria, with Pastor Bill Mathys officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Friends may call at the Noffze Funeral Home after 4 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the services.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Joyce Chapel United Methodist Church through the funeral home.
