ANDERSON — Frederic James, 77, died in Community Hospital North Indianapolis after an extended illness.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen K. Green; mother, Claris A. Shawhan Reed; father, David H. James; sister, Karen James Skinner; stepfather, James Reed; and stepson, Scott Green.
He is survived by children; Kimberli Rhodus, Tamra Baker, Lisa Crawley, and Jeff James; grandchildren, Kristen Goodling, Kara Fetters, Kevin Rhodus, Rayeanna Rhodus, Erin James, Jaret James and Holly Pepmeier; great-grandchildren, C.J. Goodling, Ciera Goodling, Cassidy Goodling, Haley Johnson and Peyton Johnson; brothers, Ron James, Bob James, Mart James and Dick James; and several nieces and nephews.
Frederic was a proud Anderson Indian, lettering in wrestling and winning fourth place in the state in 1955. He attended Anderson College. He was an on-duty U.S. National Guard and a member of the U.S. Ready Reserves. He was a lifelong participant in Boy Scouts of America. He was active in the Republican Party throughout his lifetime, including running for State Representative in 1964. He was a member of Jaycees (Junior Chamber of Commerce) and Young Republicans. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He volunteered for St. Vincent DePaul Society.
