ANDERSON — Sarah Catherine “Katie” Sutton, 87, of Anderson, died June 6, 2014, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after an extended illness.
She was born on Aug. 2, 1926 in Prospect, Ky., the daughter of John and Clara (Mathis) Cozine.
She was the manager of the Anderson License Branch for over 25 years, and she served as the Madison County Recorder for eight years.
She was a member of the Cross Roads United Methodist Church, the Shrine Club, Eastern Star, and the Lady Republicans. She was a precinct committeewoman for many years and received the Sagamore of the Wabash Award and the Lincoln Club Award.
Survivors include four daughters, Dianna (Rick) Smith of Florida, Jane Mundy, Debra Gutierrez, and Carmen Webb, all of Anderson; a son, Edward A. Sutton Jr. of Anderson; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Annie Patterson and Charlotte Paul; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Sutton Sr., who died March 21, 1989; two daughters, Janice Carter and Vikki Martin; three brothers; and six sisters.
Services will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at noon at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. John Hackney. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until noon on the same day as the service.
