ANDERSON — Marjorie E. Bender, 88, of Anderson, passed away July 9, 2013 at Countryside Manor after an extended illness.
She was born July 18, 1924 in Logansport, the daughter of the late George and Julia (Wiley) Stuart. She graduated from Anderson High School and was a lifelong Anderson resident.
She retired in 1983 from Hoyt Wright after 24 years of service and had been a member of the Ladies Elks in Anderson.
She is survived by her two daughters, Pam (husband, Jerome) Foley of Anderson and Beverly Sokol of Playa Del Rey, Calif.; three grandchildren, Julie Kappeler of Anderson, Rod (wife, Hope) Foley of Greenfield and Mickey (wife, Amanda) Foley of Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Foley and Garek Foley, both of Greenfield; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John S. Bender; sisters, Nell V. Thames, Eileen Williams, Mary Louise Cumberland and Mae Hoppes; and brother, James Stuart.
The family would like to thank the employees of Countryside, both past and present, for the kind and loving care given to their mother the past 11 years.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Kaye Casterline officiating.
