---- — PENDLETON — Donald “Donnie” L. Spencer, 73, passed away at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Fishers.
He was born Sept. 19, 1939, in Merom to the late Henry and Thelma (Druey) Spencer.
Donnie worked as a heavy equipment operator for E&B Paving Company for 20 years. He owned and operated Donnie’s Place in Pendleton for several years.
He loved gardening very much. He also liked camping, fishing and mushrooming. He was an avid fan of both the Chicago Cubs and IU basketball.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary (Clements) Spencer; son, John Spencer; daughters, Mary (Ed) Sipes, Donna (Kent) McKenney and Stephanie (Angus Owens) Spencer; brother, Morris (Joyce) Spencer; sister, Ellen (Earl) Spires; grandchildren, Jonathon Sipes, Willie (Kendra) Sipes, Shawn (Jamie) Sipes, Marcus Spencer, Matthew (Kimmie) Spencer, Spencer McKenney, Kasey McKenney and Ben McKenney; several great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and beloved best friend, Lucky Dog.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jess, Gene and Roscoe Spencer, Lucy Scott, Wanda Clark and Bernadine Moore.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 12 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, Pendleton with visitation Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
