Terry L. Johnson

Dec. 16, 1955 - March 29, 2013

ALEXANDRIA, Ind. — Terry L. Johnson, 57, Alexandria, died March 29, 2013, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born Dec. 16, 1955, in Elwood, the son of Paul Johnson and Wanda (Bogue) Johnson Altherr, and resided in the Alexandria area all of his lifetime.

Terry was a graduate of Elwood High School, Class of 1975. He retired from Brockway Glass in Lapel in 2005 after 27 years of employment. More recently he worked for V & S Trucking in McCordsville. He was a member of the Alexandria First Baptist Church. He was a Harley rider and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Most important to Terry were his family and especially his grandkids,

Survivors include his wife, Caryn (Hines) Johnson, whom he married Dec. 16, 1977; “His Boys”, Ronnie (fiancee, Nikki Shannon) Gullion of Freedom, Ind., and Jeff (Dawnetta) Gullion of Alexandria; five granddaughters, Lindsey, Gracelyn, Emmalyn, Brynlyn and Kinley Gullion; mother, Wanda (Frank) Johnson Altherr of Alexandria; sister, Sandra (Garrick) Anderson of Alexandria; brother, John (Hope) Johnson of Alexandria; half brother, Jason Johnson of Chicago; stepbrothers and sisters, Paul (Nikki) Altherr, Mike (Kathy) Planalp, Mark (Jackie) Altherr, Joe (Lisa) Altherr, Tim (Michelle) Altherr and David Altherr; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts and uncles; and special four-legged friend “Gussy.”

He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Michael Johnson; and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, 2107 S. Park Ave. (Indiana 9) Alexandria, with the Rev. Dr. Michael Deutsch and the Rev. Clifton Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Alexandria.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Noffze Funeral Home in Alexandria. The family will also receive friends on Tuesday at the church after 12 noon prior to the services.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the ALS Foundation through the funeral home.

The family would like to extend their special thanks and appreciation to the staff of the CCU at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital.
