James R. ‘Ronnie’ Peacock

NEW CASTLE, Ind. — James R. “Ronnie” Peacock, 70, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly early Tuesday evening, May 21, 2013, at the Henry County Hospital.

He was born April 25, 1943, in Knightstown, the son of the late Lewis D. and Mary Olive (Cox) Peacock. Ronnie was a retired employee of the General Motors Delphi Plant in Anderson. He retired in 2003 after 30 years of service. He and his wife also owned and operated Rogers Landscaping and Gift Shop in Indianapolis for 10 years.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the United States Army. He was a member of the Hagerstown American Legion Post 333 of Hagerstown, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1282 of New Castle and the Moose and Eagles Lodges of New Castle.

He enjoyed fishing, camping and the outdoors as well as football, NASCAR racing and Indiana University basketball. He most loved spending time with this family.

He is survived by his companion, Judy Moreland of New Castle; one daughter, Ronni Peacock of Fort Wayne; one stepdaughter; one stepson; four step-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and one sister.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine “Gerry” Peacock in 2003. He and Gerry were married June 19, 1972. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Peacock Jr.; and by a step-grandson.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Main & Davis Funeral Home, Broad St. Chapel in New Castle. Gary Poe will officiate.

Memorial services will follow at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
