---- — MIDDLETOWN — Vincent J. “Vince” Wilson, Jr., 65, of Middletown, passed away Aug. 21, 2013, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital.

He was born April 9, 1948, in Gary. He graduated from Portage High School in 1966 and from Valparaiso Technical Institute in 1969. He lived most of his adult life in the Anderson area and retired from Delphi after 34 years.

Vince became deeply involved as one of the founders of the Delphi Salaried Retiree Association (DSRA) in February 2009. In the beginning, he helped to organize the group along with participating in Anderson area membership meetings. He also became an invaluable ‘Voice’ in the establishment of the DSRA 501(c) non-profit organization, which helped provide affordable healthcare insurance to Delphi Salaried Retirees. He then went on to become the Secretary of the ‘Infant’ DSRA Benefit Trust (VEBA), and — once again — provided guidance and wisdom that was priceless. His dedication, contributions and sacrifice helped thousands of Delphi Retirees and their families.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda (Wall) Wilson of Middletown, who was his high school sweetheart; two daughters, Lana (husband, Lee) Bobb of Pendleton and Laci (husband, Rob) Moore of Anderson; three grandchildren, Leah Kopko, Evan Bobb and Sylvia Bobb; brothers-in-law, Wayne Smock of Stone Lake, Wis., and Jim McDaniel of Milton, Fla.; sister-in-law, Elaine Domenick of St. Augustine, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent J. and Phyllis (Silkworth) Wilson; brother, Douglas Wilson Sr.; sisters, Sandra Smock and Charlene McDaniel; nephew, Douglas Wilson Jr.; and niece, Kelly McDaniel.

The family would like to thank Dr. Eddy and his wonderful staff; Dr. Howe, Dr. Mares, Dr. Lawlor, and St. Vincent’s ICU and 6 South. Thanks also to the Jeff Goodnight family for all their help, especially Kole.

Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Minister Jim Blackwell officiating. Burial will be at Mechanicsburg Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
