ALEXANDRIA, Ind. —
Garnet E. Cunningham, 72, Alexandria, died May 15, 2013, at Wesley Healthcare, Auburn, after an extended illness.
She was born Oct. 1, 1940, in Muncie, the daughter of James M. Barton and Ruth (Haskett) Barton, and lived in the Alexandria for approximately 14 years.
Garnet had worked as a waitress at All-Star Pizza and more recently at Story’s Truck Stop in Chesterfield. She received much pleasure from her family, especially her grandchildren. Garnet loved her Lord and is now in His Presence.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary (John) Clendenen of Anderson; two granddaughters, Brittany (Nathan) Metz of Anderson, and Brensly Cunningham of Alexandria; grandson, Justin (Heather) McMahan of Alexandria; two great-grandsons, Landon Eli Metz and Kayden Cunningham; two sisters, Marsha (Ron) Damron of Muncie, and Judy (Bud) Kreager of Port Charlotte, Fla.; two brothers, Charles Stoneburner of Muncie, and Wayne (Carolyn) Barton of Rigdon; stepbrother, Garland (Inez) Barton of Yorktown; and several other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Julia Cunningham in 1996; and sister-in-law, Linda Stoneburner.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with Michael W. Owens officiating. Interment will follow in Bronnenberg Cemetery, Chesterfield.
