ANDERSON — Margaret Louise (Schaefer) Bledsoe, 90, Anderson, passed away Sept. 2, 2013, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 8, 1923, in Freelandville, the daughter of the late Louis and Esther (Grabbe) Schaefer. She graduated from nursing school in 1944 and lived in Anderson most of her life. She retired from St. John’s Medical Center after 32.5 years.
Margaret was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was in the Victoria and Action Circle and volunteered at Archway House and Daybreak.
She enjoyed making baby quilts, gardening, canning and cooking for her family at the holidays.
She is survived by her children, Becky Bledsoe, Roger (wife, Ann) Bledsoe and Rita (husband, Kevin) Shively; daughter-in-law, Pat Bledsoe; grandchildren, Rhonda, Stacy, Chris, Jeannette, Tony, A.J. Andy and April; great-grandchildren, Preston, Emily, Ciara, Julian, Caden, Logan, Chase, Kayleigh, Landon, Matthew, Jaxon and Ella; and sister, Rachel Brown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Bledsoe; son, Ron Bledsoe; great-grandchild, Aaliyah; brothers, Carl and Burton Schaefer; and sister, Marie Schaefer.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be two hours prior at the funeral home.
