---- — UPLAND — Alberta May (Pitts) Guthrie, 91, of Upland, died Sept. 6, 2013, after a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 18, 1922, in Joliet, Ill., to William and Ina (May) Pitts.
She served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
She worked in extended care at Community Hospital. She attended the Christ Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her five children, Roberta (Don) Conero of Bath Springs, Tenn., Carol (Wayne) Valentine of Upland, Steven (Cathy) Guthrie of Anderson, Don (Sandra) Guthrie of Anderson, and Bill (Lana) Guthrie of Frankton; brother, Bert Pitts of Sheridan; 13 grandchildren, Kelly, Kathy, Wayne, Angela, Tiffany, Stacie, Matthew, Shasta, Riley, Megan, Haley, Alison and Audrey; several great-grandchildren; in-laws, Larry (Marti) Guthrie, Betty (Richard) Leslie and Barbara Fisher; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Guthrie, whom she married Oct. 17, 1952, in Shelbyville; her parents; grandson, Steven Guthrie Jr.; and two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Jack (Dorothy) Pitts; Ed (Sandy) Pitts and Charlene Pitts.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Gary Carstens of Christ Lutheran Church officiating. Military rites will be presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 266 Honor Guard following the funeral. Cremation will take place.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be given to Christ Lutheran Church.
