---- — ANDERSON — Bryce Walter Brown Jr., 89, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at the University of Michigan Hospital following a brief illness.

He leaves his wife of 67 years, Amelia (Downey) Brown; his son, Bryce Louis Brown (Karen); granddaughter Ariana Caroline Brown; and a few close friends.

Born and raised in Anderson, the son of Bryce and Ada (Arnott) Brown, he was a lifelong resident of Anderson.

After graduating from Anderson High School, Bryce enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was a retired World War II Navy veteran. Upon completion of active duty military service, Bryce attended Anderson University and Ball State University. He met his wife Amelia Downey in school and they were married in 1946.

Bryce owned his own men’s clothing store for the majority of his life. He spent the last 15 years of his working career as a branch manager for the Anderson Banking Company and retired in 1988.

Bryce had a passion for giving his time and served on numerous committees and boards including the Boy Scouts of America, YMCA, United Way, Paramount Theater and Harter House.

Bryce loved family, fishing, and golfing and was a longtime member of the Anderson Country Club.

Cremation has taken place with a memorial service to be determined at a later date.

Nie Family Funeral Home and Cremation is handling arrangements.
