---- — ALEXANDRIA — Geraldine C. “Gerri” Chafin, 90, Alexandria, died Aug. 15, 2013, at Summit Convalescent Center, Summitville, after an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 10, 1923, in Rowlesburg, W. Va., the daughter of Walter A. Goff and Hazel (Nester) Goff, and resided in Alexandria since 1943.
Gerri worked at Guide Lamp, formerly of Anderson for 10 years. She was a member of the former Calvary Community Church of God in Alexandria and more recently the Alexandria Church of God. She was well known for her cooking and baking skills and numbers have enjoyed her noodles, pies, cakes and cookies down through the years. She was a volunteer for the Alexandria Food Pantry for several years.
Survivors include half sister, Maxine Dougal of Beaver Falls, Pa.; half brother, Keith Goff in New York; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 50 years, Clyde Chafin in 1993.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with Pastor Tom Schurrman officiating. Interment will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 11 a.m. Monday prior to the services.
