ANDERSON, Ind. —
Mary Helen “Holly” Boys, 87, passed away on July 3, 2013, surrounded by her beloved family.
She was the daughter of Earl and Henrietta Wilson, wife of Leon Boys, and former wife of Bob Ashton. She leaves behind three children, Steve Ashton of Florida, Sylvia Ashton (Wayne) Scott and Holly Dawn Boys (Ken) Gibbs, all of Middletown.
She was preceded in death by her two sons, Bryan Boys and Guy Ashton.
Holly was born in Indianapolis and raised on “Love’s Acre” with 10 brothers and sisters. She grew up during the Great Depression and learned the value of hard work, family and perseverance. As a young mother, she sent her husband off to World War II and stayed behind to work and raise her children. Holly could always find a way through the most difficult of times. She was a survivor.
Holly loved chocolate, high heels, Pepsi, gospel music and books, but her greatest love was for her family and God. It was not unusual to find a torn note of encouragement stuffed in your pocket after a visit from Holly. She never came into anyone’s life without leaving them happier. She was God’s Vagabond, a modern day Mother Teresa – a redheaded comet that left a trail of kindness, love, and joy wherever she went! Holly had a heart for the weary and broken-hearted. Her love for all was unconditional.
Her accomplishments include five children; 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Her legacy of hard work, perseverance, and unconditional love will live on through future generations. She was our mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. She was our “Holly.”
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Miller’s Merry Manor in Chesterfield and Heartland Hospice for their loving care of Holly.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Pastor Philip Rogers officiating. Burial will be at Miller Cemetery in Middletown.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
