James R. ‘Little Jimmy’ Mitchem

Dec. 29, 1987 - Jan. 25, 2012

ANDERSON, Ind. — James R. “Little Jimmy” Mitchem IV, 24, was born Dec. 29, 1987, in Kalamazoo, Mich. He was the youngest child to the late Melinda Edwards and James G. Mitchem. He departed this earth on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, unexpectedly.

Jimmy was a graduate of Highland High School and attended Lincoln Tech, majoring in electrical engineering. He was affiliated with Allen Chapel A.M.E.

He leaves to cherish many memories, his father, James Jimmy (companion, Lisa) Mitchem of Anderson; two sisters, Lacey (Khola) Watson of Anderson, and Ashley Jarrett of Knoxville, Tenn.; stepsiblings, Vincent PJ Lark Jr. and Adrianna Lark, both of Anderson. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his grandmother (mother) Bernerdean Mitchem.

Jimmy was blessed to have a special relationship with his niece and nephew, Kavion and Kennedi Watson, Gabrielle and Gavyn Jarrett, Analla Vasquez,  all on Knoxville, Tenn.; special lifelong friendships with Avery Simonds, Forree Dixion, Homer Hoskins and Kenyatth Milhouse; and a host of great-aunts and great-uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Melinda Edwards; dedicated grandfather, James R. Mitchem; and grandmother, Joyce Hartly.

Servives will be at noon Friday at Anderson Zion Baptist Church. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the Church. Pastor Harold E. Mitchem will be officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
