Ollie Jane Wills Weatherly

Dec. 19, 1928 – May 13, 2013

ANDERSON, Ind. — With family at her side, Ollie Jane Weatherly, 84, quietly entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 13, 2013, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital following an extended illness.

She was born Dec. 19, 1928, in Anderson, the younger of two daughters to Albert T. Wills and Frances (Ramey) Wills.

Ollie attended Anderson Public Schools and graduated from Anderson High School with academic honors, class of 1947. She attended Anderson College and graduated from Indiana Business College. She worked 10 years at the U.S. Army Finance Center followed by employment at General Motors Guide Lamp Division and retired after 31 years of service. She was a part-time employee for the Anderson Housing Authority in the accounting department and also, along with her husband, Ike Weatherly, operated “Harambe,” a consignment boutique.

Ollie gave her life to Christ as a child and was baptized at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church. She loved her church and remained faithful, serving on the Lay Council, Steward Board, and other church committees. She enjoyed bowling, crafting, and traveling. Ollie loved to socialize with a group of ladies called “The Lunch Bunch” doing lunch, engaging in social activities and playing cards. She affiliated with Olive Chapter #26, Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of Isis, Phylis Wheatley Club and served on the board of the Madison County Community Health Center.   

Those left to celebrate her life and to cherish her memories are her three devoted daughters, Judy Darlene Streeter, Deborah Kay Weatherly and Patricia Jean (Andre) Coleman; seven grandchildren, James Streeter, Jason Streeter, Damon Nunn, Danita Nunn, Andre’ Coleman, De’Andre Coleman and Lebra Lewis; sisters-in-law, Mary (Frank) Newsom, Joan (Brandon) Bryant, Frances Weatherly, Shirley Weatherly and Carolyn (Gregory) Scott; great-grandchildren, Sadori Streeter, James D. Streeter, Ja’qwanta Streeter, Darrius Malone, Jayla Streeter, Jamar Streeter, Kierra Streeter, Jermaine Streeter, Jeremiah Streeter, Zavier Lewis, Zaria Lewis, Jamares McCloud, Deasia Nunn, Shawn Agnew, Makayla Smith, Asia Coleman, Andre’ Coleman, Jr., Isaac (Ike) Coleman and Makayla Cox; great-great grandchildren, Je’Kyre Agnew and Je’Tayvion Agnew; devoted cousins, Harriet Wills and Johnny E. Wilson; Godson, LeRoy Governor and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and Ollie’s extended family of the late Molesta Hudson;. and special friends, Georganna King, Irene Tanksley, Lois Bridges, Mary Smith, Emma Cooper, Mary Hall, Sarah Oldham, and Nita Stanley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Isaac C. Weatherly Jr.; her sister, Martha Lena Wills; uncle; parents-in-law, the Rev. Isaac and Gertie Weatherly; a grandson, Jermaine Streeter; great-granddaughter, Jasmine Streeter; sister-in-law, Patricia Weatherly Robertson; and brother-in-law, Charles E. Weatherly.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, 1610 Sheridan St., Anderson, with the Rev. John L Lambert officiating. Visitation will be Sunday at the church from 5 to 8 p.m. and two hours prior to the service.

The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation all the acts of kindness, love and prayers shared with us by all. We extend our heartfelt “thanks” to Dr. John Woodall, Dr. Brian Eddy, and medical staffs for their tender loving care while she was a patient at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital and Bethany Pointe Health Campus.

Arrangements are being handled by Glazebrooks Funeral Service, Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Weatherly Scholarship Fund in care of Peerless Lodge 32, P.O. Box 1032, Anderson, IN 46015.
