ANDERSON, Ind. — Theodore J. “Bud” Miller, 96, of Anderson passed away Nov. 29, 2013, at Bethany Pointe Health Campus following a brief illness.
He was born April 12, 1917, in Harrison, Ohio, the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Ragar) Miller. He was a graduate of the Lewisville High School and a long-time Anderson resident. He retired in 1981 from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors in Anderson, after 31 years of employment. Bud was a utility man in the headlamps and glass units and a plastic machine operator. He was a part owner of Nu Process Dry Cleaners from 1945-1951 and part owner of the Pendleton Ave. Hardware of Anderson.
He served in the U.S. Army, First Armored Division, during WWII for 4 ½ years. He was overseas for 28 months in Northern Ireland, England, Africa and Italy.
The family is grateful for the compassionate care that Bud received from Bethany Pointe, Dr. Fast, Dr. Kelley Chambers, Deb Garner and Heartland Hospice.
He is survived by his children, Tom (Carole) Miller, Jeanie (Mike) Miller, Barbara Greenwalt and Pat McGee, all of Anderson; grandchildren, Angela (Mike) Jacob of McCordsville, Mike (Michelle) Miller of Villa Hills, Ky., Laura (Donavon) Mikesell of Anderson, Mindy (Chip) Winningham of Markleville, Jerry Miller of Anderson and Austin (Christina) McGee of Santa Fe, N.M.; great grandchildren, Jack, Caleb and Stephanie Miller, Ben and Colin Winningham, Abby Jean Mikesell, James Brown III and Kaehla Jacob; a sister-in-law, Frieda Miller of New Castle; friend, Ernie Eubank; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Thelma Miller, in 2007; grandson, Evan McGee; sister, Mary Logan; and a brother Frank Miller.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at noon Tuesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 2801 Lincoln St., Anderson, officiated by Monsignor Robert Sell. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Following the Mass, military rites will be conducted, at the church, by the VFW Post 266 Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service and Crematory, 515 E. 53th St., Anderson, with a Scripture Service at 4:30 pm.
