MUNCIE — Michael Alvin Seay, 68, of Daleville, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 11, 1945, to Alvin Monroe and Mildred Lorean (Pender) Seay in Fredericksburg, Va.
Michael served in the United States Air Force playing the trombone for the Air Continental Band. Michael obtained bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ball State. He was a teacher for the Pendleton Correctional Facility and retired after 38 years.
He married the love of his life, Sandra Puterbaugh, on Nov. 25, 1970. They enjoyed traveling the U.S. and visiting many places abroad. He was a member of the Daleville Christian Church, Salvation Army, Jaycees, International Order of Odd Fellows and the Antique Car Club of Central Indiana.
Michael is survived by a loving family consisting of his wife of 43 years, Sandra Seay, his “BFF” of Daleville, and his beloved dogs, Dot and Winston; daughters, Meg Harris (husband, Brent) of Finley, Ohio, Heidi Huxhold (husband, Randy) of Muncie, Libby Moneyhun of Daleville; mother, Mildred Seay of Chesapeake, Va.; brother, Joe David Seay (wife, Joveta) of Huntsville, Ala.; grandchildren, Zack Harris, Kiley Chance, Joshua Huxhold, Austin Huxhold, Keegan Moneyhun and Michaela Moneyhun; and great-grandchildren, Maylie Elizabeth Harris, Ella Claire Harris, and Kaydence Simmons.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Seay; sister, Loretta Carol Hopwood; and in-laws, Karl and Sylvia Puterbaugh.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie.
