---- — ANDERSON -- Denise Marie Williams, 53, departed this life while sleeping due to pneumonia on Nov. 15, 2013.
Born in Santa Anna, Calif., on Feb. 12, 1960, to Penny (Boyd) Williams and Curtis Williams. Moving to Anderson in 1973, graduating from Madison Heights, working at the Village Pantry and McDonald's, her personality and work ethic made many friendships. She enjoyed crocheting, telling stories that made you laugh to tears, being with her grandchildren, attending church, bible study, the church choir and watching “Swamp People.” A fixture in the neighborhood where children loved her, being gentle, supportive and giving, but also stern. Family and friends were so important.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Khalilah Williams and Veda Edwards; sisters, Melanye Floyd and Michelle Williams; grandchildren, Ki Andre Lewis, Khalil Williams and Keanta Walker; nieces, Baraka, Ciara, Langa and Tamu Floyd; nephew, Patrick (Colleen) Floyd; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by mother, Penny (Boyd) Williams; maternal great-grandparents, Peter J. and Mary Blakemore; maternal grandparents, Rachael Blakemore and Melvin Boyd; stepgrandfather, Willie Dabbs Jr.; grand aunt, Carrie Collins; uncle, John Michael Boyd; nephew, Michael Boyd; brother-in-law, Benjamin Floyd; and cousins, Maurice Blakemore, Florence, Elmer and Rudolph (Jack) Rollins, Tommiyah Hamer and Beth Leavell.
Services will be at noon Friday at Second Missionary Baptist Church. Viewing from 11 a.m. to noon.
