Sara B. Brooks

GREENFIELD, Ind. — Sara B. Brooks, 81, of Greenfield, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012 at Sugar Creek Nursing and Rehab, Greenfield. She was born on April 26, 1931 in Calhoun, Ga., and is the daughter to the late John and Lillie (Eads) Stewart.

Sara was a school bus driver for 28 years, driving for St. Michaels Catholic School for 12 years, Greenfield Central Schools for 15 years and Mt. Vernon Schools for one year. She was very skilled at furniture upholstering, and an active member of the Shadeland Baptist Church, where she loved to sing for the Lord in groups, solo and choir.

Survivors include husband of 42 years, Maurice A.  Brooks of Greenfield; sons, Michael J. (Trudy) Abrams of Carrollton, Ky., David W. Grooms of Pendleton, and Rick H. Harrison of Greenfield; daughters, Prenciss Diann Grooms of Darlington, Ind., Peggy S. Findlay (Tom White) of Anderson, Cynthia M. (Pat) Smith of North Vernon, and Coral L. (Don) Moir of Tellico Plains, Tenn.; brother, Junior Stewart; sister, Imogene Hamilton; 20 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery, Philadelphia, Ind., with grandson, Ralph Joseph Means officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and one hour prior to service.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sugar Creek Nursing and Rehab, Vista Care Hospice, Novella and team for the special care they provided.
