Celia Lamper-Linden

Oct. 5, 1944 - April 25, 2013

McFARLAND, Wis. — Celia Lamper-Linden, 68, lost her courageous 25-year battle with cancer on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at the Agrace Hospice Care Center in Fitchburg.

She was born Oct. 5, 1944, in Anderson, the daughter of John and Gloria (Kennerk) Lamper. Celia graduated from Madison Heights High School in Anderson. Her passion for education and nursing led her to receive her bachelors degree in nursing at Catherine Spalding College in Louisville, Ky., her masters from Duke University, nurse practitioner degree at the University of Denver and her family therapist certificate from the Family Institute of Northwestern University.

Celia continued her passion for nursing by teaching at Duke and UW-Madison. She also worked at Eldercare, Oakwood, UW Cancer Clinic, and Lutheran Social Services, to name a few.

On Aug. 9, 1980, she married Nicholas Linden in Madison. Celia was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in McFarland and enjoyed playing guitar and singing in the choir. She served on the board of directors for the Dane County Fair for many years and enjoyed gardening, raising sheep, harvesting wool, spinning, knitting and teaching others how to spin and knit.

Celia managed the McFarland Farmers Market for five years where she sold her produce, wool, lamb and decorative gourds. She also loved to read, kayak, bicycle, walk and run.

Celia is survived by her loving husband and devoted caretaker, Nick; her beloved son, Alex (Olivia); sister, Margaret Ann (Steve) Samuelson of Nixa, Mo.; brother, Henry (Mary) Lamper of Anderson; and many relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at Christ the King Catholic Church, with Fr. D. Stephen Smith officiating. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon immediately following the services in the church fellowship hall. Friends may greet the family from 10 a.m. until the time of services at church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Celia’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, Agrace HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg, Friends of the McFarland Library or to Christ the King Church in McFarland.

The family wishes to thank her medical teams at Dean Clinic, St. Mary’s Hospital and Agrace HospiceCare, particularly Dr. Michael Frontiera and his staff at Dean Oncology; as well as Dean Doctors Maskel, Utrie and Ethridge. The family also wishes to thank all those (too many to name) who stood by and supported Celia and her family throughout her long journey.
