ANDERSON, Ind. —
Earl A. Decker, 92, of Anderson, passed away April 29, 2013, at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 8, 1920, in Anderson, the son of Carl and Mabel (Pace) Decker. He graduated from Anderson High School and was a lifelong Anderson resident. He retired from Delco Remy, where he worked as an inspector and also drove a school bus for Anderson Community Schools for 52 years.
Earl served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of Muncie Sailing Club, American Legion and United Auto Workers Local 663.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ramona Decker of Anderson; eight children, David E. Decker (fiancé, Nancy Stephenson) of Anderson, Robert N. Decker of Elkhart, Kathy (husband, Michael) Baker of Anderson, Tony (wife, Jenny) Bargo of Daleville and Jeff Bargo, Tina (husband, John) Jackson, Dave (wife, Kelly) Bargo and Eddie Bargo (companion, Erin), all of Anderson; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary McCartney of Daleville and Evelean Decker of Muncie; brother, Carl Decker of Anderson; several nieces and nephews; special sister-in-law, Louise Whittaker; and his special companion, Sam, the dog.
He was preceded in death by his son, Gary L. Decker; grandchildren, Dillan Bargo and Samantha Bargo; daughter-in-law, Marcia Bargo; and brothers, Vern Decker and George Decker.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Thacker officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
