ANDERSON, Ind. — Helen A. (Allex) McCord, 89, of Anderson, died Jan. 17, 2014, at her residence after an extended illness.
She was born Jan. 21, 1924, in Anderson, to Limber J. and Dorothy Elizabeth (Sanders) Allex and graduated from Anderson High School in 1942.
She was a homemaker and member of Fifth Street United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
Survivors include her daughter, Joyce Jones of Indianapolis; sister, Sally (Herbert) Mears; brother, Thomas Allex; brothers-in-law, David Granger and Roy Moore, all of Anderson; two grandchildren, Charles (Brooke) McCord of Fishers and Jennifer (Steve) Herman of Fishers; seven great-grandchildren, Emma, Evan, Tate, Will, Whit, Elsie and Annie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward McCord; her parents; her son, John McCord; sisters, Norma Moore, Athena Granger and Karen Nelson; infant brother, Jim Allex; great-grandson, Max McCord; and son-in-law, Michael J. Jones.
The family wishes to thank her caregivers, St. Vincent Hospice staff, and Home Instead Senior Care staff, especially Kathy, Susan, Ellyn, Nita and Ruth Ann.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with the Rev. Mandi Gould officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Fifth Street United Methodist Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
