THE VILLAGES, FLA. — Patricia “Pat” (McCord) Smith, 78, of The Villages, Fla., died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Cornerstone Hospice at The Villages, Fla., after a brief illness.
Pat was born Dec. 26, 1935, the daughter of King Zebedee and Agnes (Auler) McCord Delph, in Alexandria, and had lived there until moving to Florida in 2003.
Pat was a graduate of Wendell Willkie High School, Class of 1953. She worked for Kings Title and Abstract Company of Anderson for 15 years, retiring in 1999. She and her husband, Marvin, also owned Smitty’s Furniture Restoration and Antique Shop. She was a member of Kappa Delta Phi. Pat was also a medalist in the Florida Senior Games in basketball.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin Smith, who she married on July 17, 1982; two daughters, Sheree (Leroy) Warner and Lisa (Max) Robison of The Villages, Fla.; two sons, Marshall (Marie) Smith, The Villages, Fla., and Dennis (Michelle) Smith, Bentonville, Ark.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her mother, Agnes Delph, Elwood; two brothers, Mack McCord, Phoenix, Ariz., and Wayne (Joniece) McCord, Elwood; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; a son, Mickey “Jack” Graham; and a brother, David E. McCord.
Services celebrating Pat’s life will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at the Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with the Rev. Kal Rissman officiating. Burial will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria.
Friends are invited to call at the Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria after 11 a.m. on Saturday prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, FL 32162.
