---- — ANDERSON — Harry E. Jewell, 86, of Anderson passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born March 11, 1927, in Farmersburg, Ind., the son of Elza and Lovy (Lucas) Jewell. Harry lived in Farmersburg for six years, Terre Haute for 15 years and the remainder of his life in Anderson. He retired from Delco-Remy in 1993, after nearly 30 years of employment and was a member of the VFW.
Harry was a private person who enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was honest, hardworking and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Avanelle “Abby” Jewell; his daughters, Marlene (Bruce) Britt of West Terre Haute and Cheryl Roberts of Anderson; nine grandchildren; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Errol “Jack” Bainter; and two brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service and Crematory with Pastor Clifton Smith officiating. Burial will be at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the New Hope Trinity Church.
