Toreyano Xavier ‘TJ’ Goodwin Jr.

March 15, 1995 - May 11, 2013

ANDERSON, Ind. — Toreyano Xavier “TJ” Goodwin, 18, of Anderson, and Grand Rapids, Mich., was granted his angel wings on May 11, 2013.

Toreyano was born March 15, 1995, in Jackson, Mich., to Shemika Nicole Headen-Dooley and the late Toreyano Xavier Goodwin Sr.

He was a faithful member of Church Upon the Rock, where he was on the usher board and a member of the youth department.

Toreyano’s life would seem too short, to many, especially to those who were touched by him, Just remember that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity, in which one lives. His gently smile could melt the hearts of those around him, and even if he never spoke a word his voice and thoughts could always be heard.

Toreyano enjoyed music, Church Upon The Rock youth, hanging with friends, and of course we all know he loved the ladies. His first job was at Keystone Woods, where he worked as a dietary aid. He was loved by the residents there.

Toreyano leaves to cherish his memories his loving mother, Shemika Headen-Dooley (Charles Dooley II); sister, Niya Dooley; three brothers, David Goodwin of Anderson, Dalishawn Goodwin and Xzavier Thompson, both of Grand Rapids, Mich.; niece, Mikaela Goodwin-Masso of Anderson; maternal grandmothers, Phyllis Headen of Anderson, and Debbie Carson of Kalamazoo, Mich.; maternal grandfather, David Carson of Las Vegas, Nev.; maternal great-grandmother, Annie Ganies of Anderson; maternal great-grandfather, Owen Headen of Wahtonka, Ala.; paternal grandmothers, Cynthia Mills and Alisha Roberts, both of Detroit, Mich.; paternal grandfather, Wesley Roberts of Detroit, Mich.; paternal great-grandmother, Lennie Turner of Detroit, Mich.; stepmother, Cassie Goodwin of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and church family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Toreyano Goodwin Sr.; and paternal aunt, Akeisha Roberts.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Church Upon The Rock, 303 E. 29th St., Anderson, with the Rev. Anthony D. Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Walk Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Glazebrooks Funeral Services.

Arrangement entrusted to Glazebrooks Funeral Services.
