Deloris M. Hunt

March 29, 1938 - May 19, 2013

ALEXANDRIA, Ind. — Deloris M. Hunt, 75, Alexandria, died May 19, 2013, at St. Vincent Heart Center, Indianapolis, after a brief illness.

She was born March 29, 1938, in Flemingsburg, Ky., the daughter of Leonard Saunders and Pearl (Johnston) Saunders Sharp, and resided in Alexandria since 1977.

Deloris was a graduate of Peru High School. She worked at Delco Remy, formerly of Anderson, retiring in 1978. She was a member of the House of Prayer in Anderson where her late husband, the Rev. Eldon Hunt, served as pastor. As with most pastors’ wives, Deloris filled many roles in the church including secretary, treasurer, music leader and Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of Women’s Aglow. She attended the same church now known as By His Grace Ministries-House of Prayer of Anderson. Deloris was an avid reader, especially of the Bible, and was of a giving spirit, known to help anyone out in need. Her greatest enjoyment, however, was in the time spent with her family.

Survivors include two sons, Jack (Cathy) Taylor of Carthage and Robert (Melissa) Taylor of Hartford City; daughter, Trudi (John) Parton of Alexandria; seven grandchildren, Ashley Taylor, Britney Taylor, Tiffany Taylor, Lydia Taylor, Matt (Marisa) Parton, Brock Gray and Sydney Parton; five sisters, Alma Staley of Florida, Vera Haynes, Olive (Lawrence) Smart, and Joyce McIntyre, all in California, and Leona (George) Thacker of Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews and extended family members; and special four-legged companion, “McGraw.”

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, the Rev. Eldon Hunt, in 2012.

A Home Going Service of celebration will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday at Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with Pastor Susan Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to By His Grace Ministries-House of Prayer through the funeral home.
