ALEXANDRIA, Ind. —

Charles B. “Chuck” Williams, 82 of Alexandria, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Alexandria Care Center after an extended illness.

Chuck was born in New Albany, on June 28, 1931, the son of Lavada (Lenz) Williams. On Aug. 28, 1949, he married JoAnne (Frazee) Williams, who preceded him in death.

Chuck graduated from Alexandria-Monroe High School and received his bachelor's and master’s degrees from Ball State University. He retired from his teaching career from North Side Middle School, Anderson, in 1989.

Chuck enjoyed restoring old cars and woodworking. His greatest pride was his family. He always loved the time spent with his children and grandchildren.

Surviving are his son, Vaughn (Connie) Williams; two daughters, Cyndi (Chris) Jacobs and Mary Ann (Todd) Fuller, all of Alexandria; one brother, Billy R. (Janet) Williams of New Albany; seven grandchildren, Amy (Chris) McCurry, Kyle (Corinne) Williams, Dustin Jacobs, Brandon (Lindsey) Fuller, Derek (Elsa) Jacobs, Trent (Vicki) Fuller and Jennie Fuller; seven great-grandchildren, Xavier McCurry, Kinsley Williams, Kaylynn Williams, Mason Fuller, Brayden Jacobs, Wyatt Fuller and Avery Fuller; nieces, Dana (Frank) Fendley and Sondra (Roger) Vanerman; nephew, Steve (Cathy) Frazee; and his special four-legged friend, Feebie.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lavada Williams; his wife, JoAnn Williams; and a sister, Jenny Zabel.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Whetsel Funeral Service, Alexandria, with Bud Whetsel officiating. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery, Alexandria. 

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Chuck’s family would like to thank his granddaughter and caretaker, Jennie Fuller, and Nick at the Alexandria Care Center for their unselfish devotion to Chuck’s care.
