ANDERSON, Ind. —
Emory Cain Salyer, 86, Anderson, passed away Sept. 15, 2013.
He was born Nov. 20, 1926, in Royalton, Ky., the son of the late Rolland and Della (Rowe) Salyer. He married Gladys (Arnett) Salyer on Nov. 20, 1948, who preceded him in passing on Dec. 9, 1997.
Emory served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a member of Valley Grove Free Will Baptist Church. He loved bluegrass music and attending various concerts and festivals. He was an avid University of Kentucky basketball and Chicago White Sox fan.
He is survived by his three children, Veronica (Daniel) Fowler, Mike (Wyetta) Salyer and Devona Hines (Charles Bond); six grandchildren, Heather, Christopher, Jonathan Fowler, Joshua and Crystal Salyer, and Kerry Maggard; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Kelly (Cora) Salyer; and a sister, Oneda Marchetti.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy Maggard; one brother, Lawrence Salyer; and three sisters, Mima Gibbs, Lillian Downs, and Henrietta Berry.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Valley Grove Free Will Baptist Church, 2996 E. Indiana 236, Anderson. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow services, with military honors, at Green Hills Memory Gardens.
