ALEXANDRIA — Michael G. Luyet, 70, Alexandria, died Oct. 21, 2013, at IU Health/Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, after a brief illness.
Born Feb. 15, 1943, in Elwood, the son of Marshall Luyet and Ruth (Matthews) Luyet, he resided in the Elwood/Alexandria area for most of his lifetime.
Mike was a 1961 graduate of Frankton High School. He retired from Delco Remy of Anderson in 1992 after 30 years of employment.
He enjoyed sports, especially the Indianapolis Colts, and was a loyal Peyton Manning fan. He also followed the Cincinnati Reds. Mike attended the Community Church in Alexandria.
Survivors include daughter, Lisa Heneghan (Calvin Dixon) of Virginia Beach, Va.; sons, Brian Luyet (Leticia) of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., and Anthony Luyet (Betty Turner) of Selma; grandchildren, Anthony Luyet, Nick Pratt, Francisco Luyet, Brianna Heneghan, Andrew Heneghan and Liam Dixon; brothers, Nick (Debbie) Luyet of Middletown and David (Lynn) Luyet of Elwood; special friends, Greg and Tammy Stinefield and their family of Selma; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents; wife, Helen (Farrington) Luyet in 2006; three brothers; and two sisters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with Pastors Michael and Pat Robbins officiating. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery, Alexandria.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
