Robert T. ‘Bob’ Leahy

Feb. 16, 1941 - Nov. 27, 2012

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. — Robert Thomas “Bob” Leahy, 71, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Port Charlotte Hospice House.

Born Feb. 16, 1941, in Hornell, N.Y., he spent his youth in Andover, N.Y., Louisville, Ky., and Pendleton, Ind. He graduated from Pendleton High School in 1958 and attended Indiana University and Ball State University.

He retired as a journeyman tool and die maker from Delco Remy and Delphi E, Anderson, Ind., in 1997 after 36 years of service.

He enjoyed the companionship of his canine Maltese, Jessie, listening to music, landscaping his Englewood home and studying market investments. He was an empath with a keen sense of humor.

Survivors include a brother, Howard J. (Roselie) Leahy of Fort Wayne; sisters, Mary K. (Charles) Welch of Easton, Conn., and Margaret A. (J. Douglas) Dickson of Upper Arlington, Ohio; children, Christopher Thomas of McCordsville, Ind., and Michael Patrick of Seattle, Wash.; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents, Dr. Howard J. and Mary E. Leahy of Pendleton; and a brother, William M. Leahy of Indianapolis, Ind.

He rests in the Companion Meadow at Gulf Pines Memorial Park, 2401 Englewood Road, Englewood, FL 34223 along with the remains of his beloved canine Maltese, Brandy. Jessie will join him there upon her death.

Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The family wishes to thank the Port Charlotte Hospice House for their assistance and support.
