Letter: Wheel tax concerns must be presented

The 2012 Madison County Council passed a balanced county budget for the 2013 year, within the budgeted $1½ million road maintenance funds plus $400,000 for road equipment, hundreds of thousands of dollars more than generated by the wheel tax. Again, this was part of a balanced budget.

Now the 2013 Council wants to pass a wheel tax. Are their intentions to use appropriated road funds for other tax-and-spend actions, create the need for a wheel tax and ignore the balanced budget?.

The next regular scheduled council meeting is Monday, May 13, at 5 p.m.

Sure to be on the agenda is a county wheel tax. This is a meeting you need to attend; voice your concerns. We had a wheel tax before, did roads improve?
