Letter: Look at the facts in charter school debate

The Herald Bulletin

---- — If proponents and opponents looked at the facts in the charter school debate instead of relying on their ideologies, we might make progress at improving public education.

Why did high-performing teachers (based upon their value-added student test scores) who received a $20,000 stipend for teaching at a low-achieving school fail to have a positive effect on middle school student achievement? Is it because the deficit is already too great to fully remediate? Would pre-K help?
