Editorial: Royal event can be history lesson

Hopefully, a classroom teacher, media outlet or parent will reinforce the historic nature of such moments. Questions and answers aren’t just for “Jeopardy"; they are lifelong tools that teach awareness of the world around us.

So this royal birth has significance if, and "if" is important here, people use it to teach a history lesson, even a small one such as the fact that the current reigning British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, is able to rule because her father had no male children.

Each birth of a child is a godsend that becomes a teaching moment for parents and relatives. But a royal baby's birth should be celebrated as a perfect chance to teach world history lessons.
