The Herald Bulletin
---- — I have been dealt a very heavy blow. I am a former student of Anderson High School Class of 1995, and, as you are aware, in 1999 I was one of the few remaining students standing on the sidewalk watching as my beloved high school burned to the ground, many memories going up in smoke.
As I do every day I pick up our local newspaper to read top headlines. Anderson Wigwam — should it stay or should it go? Hasn’t the school board done enough? I am very disappointed. Sure, there is a new Anderson High School, but for us true Indians that is not our school. I feel saddened for the Madison Heights Pirates, as well.
I am very disappointed in the school board and some of the decisions they have made. I recently read where there is a new alternative school coming to Anderson, hello empty building. I think this would be an ideal place for them. I also believe the community service they have to perform would be ideal project to spruce up the Wigwam and the area. I am really saddened by the fact that they are proposing this idea to tear down the Wigwam. They already took our school from us, and not to mention the memories.
