THB: She is an inspiration to all. By going public with this horrific crime she empowers herself and becomes less of a victim. Kudos, Mrs. Rudolf, not many of us would have the courage you do.
Some U.S. school districts make the decision to quit healthier lunch program. (Aug. 27)
◆ “Mine eat less than ever. The pizza even is a whole grain crust. My kids are so skinny and active it is not good that they don’t eat at school.”
◆ “Praying South Madison schools will do away with the program. My son loved their lunches before this went into effect. Now he just doesn’t eat and comes home starving every day.”
◆ “My kids’ school lunch used to be decent, now the food is just disgusting.”
THB: Childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and tripled in adolescents in the past 30 years according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The healthier new federal lunch program is a way to combat this “growing” trend and to expose children to different fruits and vegetables.
Anderson named 64th best community for business and careers (Aug. 29)
◆ “Although I will admit things are better than say, five years ago. But I don’t know if I would rank us 64th in the nation right now. Businesses have announced they are coming to Anderson, but many aren’t here yet. I guess I can understand after reading the article and seeing that they took that into consideration. I would like to see what the list looks like five years from now. Hopefully we head in the same direction.”
◆ “It’s because of all the deserted land in Anderson that needs filled in with businesses before they take more land into Anderson!”
THB: Why can’t we take this for the good news that it is and build upon it? It’s a positive thing for this city, embrace it and make it work in our favor.

◆ “This is another senseless act of violence and another life taken. These young people need to think before they react because there are a lot of people affected by your poor decision to take another person’s life.”
◆ “Should be able to walk around and not be in fear of being beaten, shot at or anything else for that matter. A man’s life has been lost; that’s what matters!”
THB: Another instance of not thinking, just reacting, with a gun in your hand.
