Library plans scrapbooking class
The Pendleton Community Library, 595 Water St., will host a three-hour beginners scrapbooking class at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17. Those participating should bring colored markers or pens, scissors, scrapbook paper, double-backed tape or acid-free glue. The class will be taught by Jane Cassin, and class size is limited to 15. Jr. baseball board meets Jan. 14

Foundation awards funds to groups
The South Madison Community Foundation recently awarded more than $12,000 to the following organizations: Animal Protection League for the FIDO/shelter dog program; The Art Association of Madison County for its Student Exhibition 2009; Friendly Flock Preschool for its Getting Ready to Read program and the United Way of Madison Co. Inc., for its Born Learning program.

Senior cards program resumes
The Senior Cards in the Park program has resumed at the Falls Park Community Building. Times are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Free coffee and doughnuts are served.
Soccer league registration Friday
The Pendleton Youth Soccer League will hold spring 2009 registration Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and Jan. 24 from noon to 4 p.m. Registration will be onsite at Just4Kicks in Pendleton. Those wishing to participate may also register online at www.pendletonsoccer. com.
Youth commission opens grant cycle
The South Madison Community Foundation’s Lapel Youth Commission and South Madison Youth Commission will accept applications for its February grant cycle. Requests should be limited to no more than $1,000. Applications are due to the Foundation office on Feb. 1, 2009. EMT certification class begins Jan. 13
Registrations are being accepted for Saint John’s next EMT certification class, which will begin Jan. 13. The class will meet from 6 to 10 p.m., two nights a week at the Pendleton Fire Station.
