April 4, 1924 – Jan. 4, 2009

MARKLEVILLE — Lester Isaacs, 84, Markleville, died Jan. 4, 2009, at Saint John’s Medical Center, Anderson, following a brief illness.

He retired from Central Indiana Gas Co. (now Vectren Energy) in 1987 as a pipefitter after over 30 years of service.

Lester was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include three children, Carol (husband, Fred) Shanks, Jim (wife, Lisa) Isaacs, and Deborah Isaacs; special friend, Glenda Smith of Anderson; sister, Fairy (husband, Ralph) Powell; ; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene (Harrison) Isaacs, in 1977.

Services were Wednesday, Jan. 7 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, Pendleton. Burial followed in Dale Cemetery, Connersville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to Arthritis Foundation, Indiana Chapter, 615 N. Alabama St., Suite 430, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
